@amitsbt1 "the high speed racer car experiences a tagential outward force which may cause the car to thrown out of the road"... There is no such force. This common misconception is refered to as the "centrifugal" force, but in reality does not exist. The "force" you are referring to simply comes from the cars own inertia, its own tendency to want to travel a path tangent to the curve the car is attempting to drive. For this reason, a frictional force between the road and the tires must exist

By: amitsbt1. on 06 Dec 09, 10:10:31
@ allil and kritrrista89 while turning on a curve road the high speed racer car experiences a tagential outward force which may cause he car to thrown out of the road. So there is a need of a frictional force between the tyres and road to oppose this force. Since the friction is directly proportional to the the surface area of contact and the Normal force. so we can increase friction either by increasing either mass or surface area of contact of tyre and road

By: KarlPhys. on 07 Apr 09, 00:44:18
Unnecessarily complicated. Resolving mg along the line of the string gives mgcos(angle). This leaves the restoring force ma = -mgsin(angle) perpendicular to the string. Measuring x along the arc and using small angles gives the result because the arc is virtually a straight line. No need to make any assumptions about acceleration in the y direction. In any case, because the mass is moving in an arc of a circle, there must always be a centripetal acceleration. Mption iso nly approximately SHM.
