I was saying that XP is pretty much the best OS :I

I use xp and It's a great machine. I prefer it over vista because xp is straight forward and isn't watered down like vista. The watering down could be good for the average person who knows nothing about computers. But It's more of a hassle to me. If you are talking about windows vs mac then I must ask you, why? Give me one good reason to use mac computers over windows? I find mac very buggy, and while it's got a "prettier" gui, What are your reasons?

I only got it to work on Safari 4. I use Firefox 3.5b4 and Just black boxes. So I recommend to try the HTML 5 Demo (on Youtube) with Safari 4. That's the only browser that will run it.

html5 and cloud computing will kill small independent entrepreneurs and software developers because everything you will program in the future will be owned by the cloud computing owners, whoever that might be, google, amazon, etc etc...imagine working 2 weeks on new software and you store it online because that's your only option, that software is owned by the cloud service because you store it on their servers...this will basically kill innovation
By: cypher955. on 29 May 09, 00:45:06
" Some of the vendors providing Cloud computing servicesCloud computing is a style of computing in which dynamically scalable and often virtualized resources are provided as a service over the Internet." You know how you subscribe to your tv cable and satellite, well that is the future plan of the big corporations for the internet...they are going to provide a "service"...you'll pay for it...enjoy
By: cypher955. on 29 May 09, 00:41:33
do a search on "html5 cloud computing" and you'll see...html5 is what they are going to use to bring cloud computing to everyone...meaning they are going to eliminate the hard drive and put an end to copyright infringement...what's good for big corporations is always bad for the user...don't you realize that by now?
By: cypher955. on 29 May 09, 00:31:17
sounds like to me, they want to eliminate the harddrive so you'll store all your shit online

Looks like open standards will be catching up to Flash soon. *sigh* Took them long enough. >_>

"Haven't we been told that XHTML is the only true way of coding websites?" No. There was disagreement from vendors and developers over the direction that the WC3 was taking XHTML2, so an alternative group was formed which drafted HTML5 and Web Forms 2. HTML5 is more practical, easier to implement, and simpler to write, not to mention it has a smoother migration path from HTML4 than the jump from XHTML1 to XHTML2.
By: babrent. on 11 May 09, 01:43:21
You can just serialize it as x(ht)ml5. No debate

I've been doing regular HTML pages as a day job for probably over 10 years and still do not use XHTML (and before that from interest). IE still does not render it as a native format unless you use the little hack to make it pretend to be something else. I'm also amazed that you find this wierd. Most of HTML is well formed anyway (has closing tags), most issues are caused by doing wierd nesting of elements which are normally against the spec anyway.

I'll let the age-comment slip... XHTML gives many advantages. As you say, it is easier to transform into other formats. But it is also easier to validate and hence easier to see if you made a mistake / typo. An XHTML parser is easier to maintain than an HTML parser. But as I said. It might just be me trapped in XHTML land. I'm just puzzled that I've managed to live here for so many years without encountering anybody besides this guy who knows his stuff and still types regular HTML.
By: SoggyGibblets. on 02 Apr 09, 11:36:51
Are you serious ? there is no 'one way' for anything. One day when your my age and seen enough to understand you will probably do what I am now. scary huh I am your future !. XHTML gives no real advantage except for being easier transform into other formats.
By: wa7son. on 31 Mar 09, 15:23:26
Can anybody tell me the reason for still supporting HTML as opposed to XHTML? He uses old-school HTML throughout his presentation - it seems so 90'ies to me. Haven't we been told that XHTML is the only true way of coding websites? I know he argues that XHTML is still not widely adopted, but why not "force" new websites into using it then? Is it just me living in an XHTML bubble?
By: EBArts1. on 05 Feb 09, 14:55:37
Actually Adobe, Apple, Mozilla, and Opera are working with the W3C in a working group to finalize HTML 5 now. Just to answer your question of who is pushing HTML 5 :)

So that is what Hixie looks like??!!! All this time I've never seen a picture of him. I guess I imagined something different (like older?) :D
